And my heart goes for the have nots, the poor the needy the sick. The orphans the jobless the grieving. The list goes on…
And Christmas Day can make life more contrasted for them. Heartbreaking.
Just look around. On the side walk are the homeless running like rats when the rain wakes them in their sleep. They are almost in every corner.
From a distance you can see at your favorite fast food outlet somehow somewhere there is a poor soul hungry and looking with ever yearning eyes to bite that burger which to others is so common.
“To be poor means that something is lacking from our lives. Often we want to correct what is lacking. The Bible focuses primarily on two kinds of poverty – people who are in need of basic necessities money, food and clothing and people who are in need of GOD lacking the Holy Spirit’s presence in their lives. We are commanded to help both kinds as much as we possibly can.”
During Jesus’ earthly life the religious leaders taught that riches were proof of God’s favor. That the LORD Was pleased with that person’s life. The LORD however surprised them with the teaching of Lazarus who sat at the rich man’s gate, destitute and the dogs leaking his wounds. The final moral lesson is the eternity of those who have put their faith in Jesus finished work at Calvary.
Though I have reason to believe that the Lord was not born on December 25th we know and believe that Jesus is was and will always be the Greatest Gift from Heaven. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. JOHN 3:16
If you are going to receive a gift would you have to give money, do something for receiving it or return if after 2 weeks? Or Receive a gift but be a servant all your life? NO WAY!
The good news IS going to Heaven is easy for us we only have to believe but it was HARD for GOD. The Lord Jesus left heaven born in a manger became a carpenter crucified died and resurrected to ensure our Salvation.
God will not break His Promise. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 JOHN 5:13
Just as all our love is a reflection of God’s ultimate love let us not forget to love our less fortunate fellow men, YES! every day of our lives BUT Intelligently.
We will not be able to help everyone but we can help those at our doors who indeed are needy.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL
Passage to ponder Matthew 5:1-14
