I just crossed the Line! Not any cease fire line but the point in time where a person becomes a “dual citizen”. I have crossed the international dateline and the equator many times but 60 years on the planet in a country called the Philippines can be fun.
If you reached the golden year still firm and supple or otherwise, then make it a point to enjoy and live meaningfully. Don’t be imprisoned in a body that won’t cooperate with you.
Moses is ascribed to have written Psalms 90, verse 12 says “Teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom “. Looking back, I humbly share with the young that reaching 60 was not an easy road.
I was in grade 3 when Martial was declared in September ‘72. I witnessed the EDSA Feb Revolution of ’86 where some say “democracy was restored “. I have seen PD30 usher in a new era which paved the way to question the established church and media.
Have loved and lost.
I saw, I heard, I read , I witnessed and tried to understand. One thing is confirmed. I GOT OLD with all the “perks” that come as sidings.
There are many bumps and forks along the path from youth to adult to senior adult. Others weren’t so lucky. Wrong choices made put them in the wrong places which led to consequences beyond redemption. I thank GOD that I had been there but by His grace I failed to destroy myself. God’s redeeming love kept me safe when all I could wait for was death or prison at least.
Had anyone had the power to see the future, probably people would have made the right choices but that is not so. Hence Moses’ prayer Lord teaches us to number our days that we may apply hearts unto wisdom.
The LORD gave Moses the Ten Commandments which can be summed into two. The first is to love God foremostly and the 2nd to love your fellow man as yourself. From these were derived the various addendums that govern the conduct amongst men. The Law was made for man and not the other way around. All these laws and regulations can get convoluted as time goes by and instead of keeping people out of trouble becomes the very reason many will not reach 60.
Birthdays like Anniversaries are reminders to make us thankful and joyful.
They are reasons to celebrate the Person who is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE. They make us reminisce “the way it used to be “and how we reach this stage in life. Leave the pain behind but keep the lessons learned. Let’s enjoy the sunshine and the rain, the night and the day, the summer and the snow but would you enjoy an earthquake? It is still our choice. James 1:2 told us to “consider it pure joy when you face trials of many kinds “.
FRIEND WHEREVER YOU ARE
HAPPY 60TH BIRTHDAY TO YOU
