Manama: Bahrain News Agency (BNA) participated in an international workshop hosted by Nikon Corporation in Georgia, showcasing its pioneering use of Nikon’s SR-1 Camera Robot and File Transfer Protocol (FTP) technology during the 33rd Arab Summit. Yacoub Al Sada, Head of Photography and Photographic Editing at BNA, represented the agency at the workshop, which also marked the official launch of the SR-1 robot by Nikon subsidiary MRMC (Mark Roberts Motion Control).
BNA’s successful deployment of the SR-1 at the Arab Summit, a global first preceding the robot’s official launch, captured over 35,000 high-resolution images. This innovative approach, combined with the use of FTP technology for real-time image transmission, streamlined the agency’s workflow and ensured rapid, efficient coverage of the event.
Narendra Menon, Managing Director at Nikon Middle East FZE, expressed his delight in the collaboration, stating, “We conducted a series of training sessions for BNA photographers to optimize the system’s functionality during the summit. We are very pleased with this achievement and thank Bahrain News Agency and Ashrafs for their efforts.”
Al Sada emphasized the significance of this technological advancement, highlighting that BNA is the first in the Middle East to utilize FTP for broadcasting images of a major international event. “This technology facilitated our comprehensive coverage of the 33rd Arab Summit, capturing over 35,000 high-resolution images of the meetings,” he said. “This reflects BNA’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies in media and photography.”
The SR-1 Camera Robot, known for its portability, ease of setup, and ability to capture unique perspectives, proved invaluable in covering the summit. The FTP technology, which allows for fast and secure transmission of large numbers of high-resolution images, further enhanced BNA’s ability to deliver timely and comprehensive coverage.
