The Meralco Bolts have warned against underestimating TNT Tropang 5G as they begin their semifinal series in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Although the Bolts hold the higher seed, they believe TNT remains a dangerous opponent.
Both teams went through knockout games before advancing to the semifinals. Meralco defeated Magnolia, while TNT stunned top-seeded NLEX with back-to-back victories.
According to Meralco coach Luigi Trillo, he still considers TNT one of the strongest teams in the league because of its deep lineup and experience. He said the team becomes even tougher once the playoffs begin.
Trillo also recalled their victory over TNT during the eliminations, where they managed to contain Bol Bol. However, he stressed that Tropang 5G will be a much more difficult team to face this time around.
For Trillo, the Bolts must excel in every aspect of the game to win the series. He added that Meralco also has the talent and capability, but they will need to work hard to earn a spot in the finals.
Meanwhile, TNT coach Chot Reyes said Meralco is a complete team. He emphasized that TNT must improve its defense and rebounding in order to keep pace with the Bolts.
