Calbayog City, in Samar, is home to breathtaking natural wonders that have become popular for adventure-seekers and nature lovers.
After being closed for over a year, one of the City’s tourist attraction, the Calbayog Zipline has officially reopened on Easter Sunday offering visitors an adventurous ride from the ridge of Malajog to the Daraga Islet.
It was first opened in 2016, but was temporarily shut down in 2020 due to the pandemic caused by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
For an adrenaline junkie, a nature enthusiast, or someone looking for a unique and unforgettable adventure, the Calbayog Zipline and Malajog Ridge Nature Park are sure to exceed one’s expectations.
The Calbayog Zipline is the longest zipline in the entire Eastern Visayas region and the first mountain to Island Zipline in the country, spanning 750 meters long and 187 feet above sea level. The zipline provides a unique and thrilling experience for tourists, allowing them to soar through the air at high speeds. Its exhilarating ride starts from the top of the Malajog Ridge and ends at the Daraga Islet, where people can enjoy the eye-dropping white sand beach and crystal-clear waters.
Now that the tourist attraction is back in operation, it is expected to promote tourism in the area and prop up the city›s economy.
In addition to the zipline adventure, tourists can also explore the trail leading to the view deck, which showcases the stunning Malajog Beach and surrounding mountains. And those seeking a more leisurely pace can stroll along the one-kilometer stretch of sand or take a dive in the deep blue waters of the beach, a secluded white sand beach that offers a chance of relaxation and unwinding after a day of adventure. The beach is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling, and is surrounded by towering cliffs and scenic rock formations.
The adventure doesn’t stop there. The Malajog Ridge Nature Park, where the zipline is located, is a sprawling 250-hectare nature reserve that boasts a diverse range of flora and fauna.
