Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson, who is running for senator in the upcoming 2025 elections, has outlined an ambitious platform aimed at modernizing the Philippine transportation system.
A centerpiece of his campaign is a proposal to provide soft loans for drivers and operators under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP). This initiative would allow e-jeepneys to be acquired with no down payment and zero interest, making the transition to electric vehicles more affordable and accessible. “Magpapautang tayo nang walang interes,” he said.
As part of his push for greener mobility, Singson announced plans to establish a cutting-edge e-jeepney manufacturing plant in Lipa City, Batangas, in collaboration with Korean technology experts. He also emphasized the need for charging stations at transport terminals to ensure the smooth operation of e-jeepney services nationwide. “May dalawang factory na ako sa Korea, dito naman sa atin tayo magpapatayo,” Singson shared.
Singson reiterated his commitment to a sustainable future, stating that modernizing the country’s public transport system is a key priority in his senatorial bid.
Beyond transportation reforms, Singson’s online game show continues to gain momentum, achieving over 1 million views. Originally a small social media venture, the game show has become a national phenomenon, delighting viewers daily with exciting prizes.
The program awards 58 winners with P5,800 each day, along with a grand prize of P58,000, distributed through an innovative ascending multiplier system. To join, participants are encouraged to engage with Singson on social media, download the VBank PH app, and join the daily raffle draws.
Singson, a seasoned politician who served as mayor of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, from 2019 to 2022, is leveraging his extensive experience to present forward-thinking solutions for transportation and economic challenges as he campaigns for a Senate seat in 2025.
