In a ceremony held on Friday, Dante Francis Mariano Ang II was sworn in as the chairperson of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), replacing Elvira Amano as the head of the agency.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed Ang’s appointment on October 16, 2024. Under the Office of the President, the CFO is a flagship agency that caters primarily to the Filipino migrant. Through essential pre-departure assistance to Filipino emigrants, marriage migrants, U.S. Exchange Visitor Program participants, and au pairs, it has been guiding individuals in a smooth and easier transition and adaptation while moving abroad.
With an international clientele, the CFO caters to Filipinos planning to emigrate to the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Italy, New Zealand, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Germany. Ang’s experiences in media and public service are expected to give this agency a valuable leadership component that continues its mission to help the Filipino people around the globe.
This appointment embodies the consistent efforts of the administration to strengthen support for the Filipino diaspora, as well as to ensure the proper preparation of those bound for overseas.
