Manama: The 3rd Asian Youth Games in Manama delivered high-octane action on October 24, as 15 gold medals were awarded, primarily in the thrilling disciplines of Athletics and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

The day was marked by dominant performances from Asian sports powerhouses. In Athletics, the People’s Republic of China continued its impressive campaign, with Xinyi Wang setting a new Games Record in the Girls’ Discus Throw. The United Arab Emirates celebrated gold as Aisha Tariq sped to victory in the Girls’ 400m final. Other medal events saw intense competition, including four podium finishes in Athletics and a bronze medal secured by India’s Veer Bhadu in the Boys’ 80kg MMA category.

While the medal events on October 24 did not feature a Filipino medalist, Team Philippines remained a formidable presence throughout the day’s rigorous schedule, participating strongly in preliminary and qualification rounds across multiple sports, including the fiercely contested Boxing and the opening rounds of Badminton. The commitment and competitive spirit shown by the young Filipino athletes underscore the nation’s dedication to developing world-class sporting talent.

As the Games move forward, the focus remains on the rising stars who are not only competing for medals but also gaining invaluable experience on the international stage.
