Pinoy Aksyon News Bahrain Editor-in-Chief Nanju Francisco had the privilege to interview Tag during the farewell party. Here is an excerpt of the interview with Tag:
Pinoy Aksyon News: Can you tell us something about yourself? Brief profile, family, province?
Tag: I am single. I had a great father and mother. Both of my parents are now with the Lord in heaven. I have two brothers and three sisters. We are originally from the Punta Tanza province of Cavite. Growing up in a large family has shaped who I am today, instilling in me the values of love, support, and unity that continue to guide me in all aspects of my life.
Pinoy Aksyon News: When did you arrive in Bahrain?
Tag: I arrived in Bahrain on 11 June 2006. At that time, I was serving my country with pride. I was on active duty service in the US Navy and retired from active service in 2010. This transition marked a significant change in my life, and I then returned to Bahrain for Federal Civilian employment as a Deputy Reserve Programs Officer. This role has allowed me to continue contributing to the community while utilizing the skills I developed during my military service.
Pinoy Aksyon News: How did you get involved with FilAm and what is your position there?
Tag: I love being involved in community service. My passion for service led me to hold different positions in the Filipino American Association of Bahrain (Fil-Am) from 2006 to 2025. The most notable position was being President from Dec 2013 – Dec 2016. Leading the association was a rewarding experience, as it allowed me to foster connections within our community and work towards meaningful initiatives that uplifted our fellow Filipinos in Bahrain.
Pinoy Aksyon News: What has happened to your life and career for the past 18+ years of residing in Bahrain?
Tag: The good Lord has blessed me so much to be able to provide for my whole family. This blessing has enabled me to focus not just on my career but also on building lasting relationships. I also gained a lot of friends in Bahrain who I considered my second family. Being involved in community service has filled my life with purpose and joy, and it has been a privilege to contribute to the well-being of our community.
Pinoy Aksyon News: What is your secret to success?
Tag: Faith in God. Love for the family. Respect. Hard work. These pillars serve as my foundation in life. And of course, you can never go wrong with kindness. I believe that success is not just about personal achievements but also about how we treat others and the impact we leave on those around us.
Pinoy Aksyon News: Any plans, projects, etc.?
Tag: I aim to do well with my new job where I’m going next. I’m also planning for my second retirement maybe five years from now. This next chapter excites me, as it opens up new opportunities for growth and exploration while allowing me to think about how I can continue to give back to my community.
Pinoy Aksyon News: Do you have any messages for your friends and the members of the Filipino Community?
Tag: Always keep your faith in God. This is the cornerstone of resilience and hope. Give your best in everything you do. It’s important to remain dedicated and passionate in our endeavors. Stay humble. Remember that true success comes from serving others. And lastly, do not expect anything in return when you provide a good deed. Thank you so much, and I will miss you all. Your support and friendship have meant the world to me, and I look forward to carrying these memories with me always.
