The International Criminal Court (ICC) has the possibility of issuing more arrest warrants to people associated with the former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte concerning the killings during the campaign of his administration against drugs.
It was explained by a counselor representing families of victims.
The lawyer Joel Butuyan said in an interview with GMA News last Wednesday, March 12, “Kung babasahin mo ang warrant of arrest, may mga indications na may iba pa maliban kay Pangulong Duterte. Kasi ang description na binibigay doon kay Pangulong Duterte indirect co-perpetrator.”
This is because he is described as an ‘indirect co-perpetrator’ within the warrant.” Butuyan said others might come into place behind Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, who was once the chief of the Philippine National Police during Duterte’s era, as possible candidates for arrest.
Antonio Trillanes IV, a former senator who was also one of those who filed the case against Duterte at the ICC, has stated that dela Rosa could be covered by additional arrest warrants.
The ICC has investigated crimes against humanity allegedly committed under Duterte’s controversial anti-drug campaign, which has led to the deaths of thousands of people.
