Colegio de San Juan de Letran extended its winning streak to five matches after defeating Emilio Aguinaldo College in four sets 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 25-16, in the NCAA Season 100 women’s volleyball tournament.
Judiel Nitura started Letran’s offense with 17 points, coming from 15 successful attacks and two important blocks, to keep the Intramuros-based squad’s record unblemished at 5-0.
Vanessa Sarie, fresh from being recognized as the Collegiate Press Corps NCAA Player of the Week, exhibited an all-around game to score 16 points on 14 attacks, a block, and an ace, as well as contributing 13 excellent receptions.
With Gia Maquilang, one of Letran’s key players, missing in action due to school commitments, Verenicce Colendra made her presence felt with 12 points to help secure the win for Letran. Maquilang is expected back in the team for their next match.
For the Lady Generals, rookie Jing Alimen led them with 15 points on 12 attacks, 2 aces, and a block. Jamaica Villena added 13 points, but EAC struggled, falling for the third consecutive match with a 1-5 record.
Letran looks to keep their winning ways against Arellano University on Saturday, while EAC will look to recover against De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on March 27.
