Directed by Benedict Mique and starring LA Santos and Kira Balinger, ‘Maple Leaf Dreams’ offers a heartfelt portrayal of the challenges faced by Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) seeking a better life abroad. Set in Canada, the film follows young couple Macky (LA Santos) and Molly (Kira Balinger) as they navigate love, dreams, and the struggles of starting anew in a foreign land.
Their story reflects the experiences of many Filipinos who leave the Philippines to uplift their families.
This emotional truth lies at the heart of Maple Leaf Dreams, showcasing the resilience and determination of those facing uncertainty abroad. LA’s portrayal of Macky emphasizes unwavering support for Molly amid hardship.
His line, “Simula sa una hanggang sa huling araw natin dito, basta magkasama tayo… Itatawid tayo ng pagmamahalan natin,” resonates with anyone enduring tough times alongside a loved one.
When discussing the difficulty OFWs face leaving their families, LA Santos said,
LA feels fortunate that his career in showbiz has allowed him to stay in the Philippines. He shared his gratitude, stating:

I’m beyond grateful to have her in my life.”
Maple Leaf Dreams not only explores love and resilience but also pays tribute to the enduring sacrifices of Filipino families, especially OFWs. The chemistry between LA Santos and Kira Balinger, along with veteran actors Joey Marquez, Snooky Serna, and Ricky Davao, makes the film both inspiring and emotionally gripping. Additional cast members include Malou Crisologo, Jong Cuenco, Jeff Gaitan, Hannah Thalia Vito, Luke Alford, Kanishia Santos, Benito Mique, Wilson Martinito, and Canada-based beauty queen Bea Rose Santiago.
