Comedy icon Michael V., known as “Bitoy,” has issued a public warning after learning of a deepfake video circulating online that falsely shows him endorsing a product.
The multi-awarded comedian posted the manipulated video on Instagram, wherein he explained that it used artificial intelligence for the fake ad. It showed him carrying a visual overlay, demonstrating how the footage was altered. “This fake ad was made by A.I. (artificial intelligence),” he stated.
Bitoy said that AI was used to fake not only his voice but also artificial mouth movements to be in sync with the fake audio. “A.I. was used to replace my mouth movements. They used A.I. para pag-aralan at gayahin yung real voice ko.”
The comedian began the caption with a strong warning: “Maging alisto. Huwag magpa-loko.” He then urged everyone to be wary about the rapid evolution of AI technologies. “Dapat matuto tayong maging mapanuri kung ang pinapanood o binabasa ay fake or totoo,” he urged his followers to be aware and become his advocate in sharing the post.
Several celebrities, including Joross Gamboa, Chariz Solomon, and Brent Javier, expressed concern in the comments section about how AI is really frightening.
