The Washington Wizards selected AJ Dybantsa of BYU as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft yesterday.
Dybantsa is a 6-foot-8 forward who led NCAA Division I in scoring with 25.5 points per game last season.
The Wizards finished 17-65 last season and missed the playoffs.
Darryn Peterson of Kansas, one of the contenders for the first overall pick along with Dybantsa, was selected second by the Utah Jazz.
The Memphis Grizzlies picked Cameron Boozer of Duke, the National Player of the Year in college basketball, with the No. 3 pick.
Caleb Wilson of UNC was the No. 4 overall pick, going to the Chicago Bulls.
At No. 5, the Los Angeles Clippers selected Keaton Wagler of Illinois, while the Brooklyn Nets chose Mikel Brown Jr. of Louisville at No. 6. Darius Acuff Jr. of Arkansas went seventh to the Sacramento Kings, while Kingston Flemings of Houston was selected by the Atlanta Hawks at No. 8.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Morez Johnson Jr. to the Dallas Mavericks and Brayden Burries to the Milwaukee Bucks. — ReynaldoAJr.
