US-based Filipino singer Nick Vera Perez is back in the Philippines for a heartfelt mission: to promote his latest album Parte ng Buhay Ko, reconnect with his roots, and celebrate the person who shaped much of who he is—his beloved mother.
“This isn’t just another tour,” Nick shares. “This is me coming home, bringing my stories and songs to the people who inspired them.”
At the core of Nick’s music and values is his mom, Visitacion Tan, whom he describes as the anchor of his life.
“She’s the best part of me,” he says warmly.
“Malaking part ng buhay ko ang mom ko sa paghubog ng values ko. Tinuruan niya akong maging pasensiyoso. Tinuruan din ako ni Mama na rumespeto sa mga babae. Kaya kapag nakakakita ako ng isang ina, mahal ko ang lahat ng mga babae.”
His career as a nurse only deepened this admiration for women.
“Every time I see a pregnant woman, ang saya saya ko kasi she’s carrying another life na di kayang gawin ng mga lalake—but that is not to disqualify men na kailangan din ng mga babae,” he adds thoughtfully.
Nick is in the country to promote his fourth studio album, Parte ng Buhay Ko, a collection of nine all-original OPM tracks composed by Adonis Tabanda. Released online in 2022, the album is now getting the full spotlight it deserves through live performances and in-person promotions.
The album features deeply emotional tracks such as Biyaya, Paghilom ng Sugat, Titig, Lihim ng Puso, Kalendaryo, May Tayo Ba?, Pangarap Ko’y Ikaw, Sana’y Mapansin, and the title song Parte ng Buhay Ko—each telling stories of love, longing, and healing.
Nick’s tour includes stops at media outlets and major venues such as NET25’s Eat Connect, Letters & Music, and WEJ-A Minute on Radyo Agila, as well as performances at Robinsons Novaliches, Sta. Lucia East Mall, Isetann Recto, and a much-awaited appearance on the Wish 107.5 Bus.
One of the most anticipated events is a Mother’s Day concert on May 11 at KCC Mall de Zamboanga, where Nick will be performing a special show with his mother. Also joining him on stage throughout the tour are the powerhouse Evelyn O. Francia and up-and-coming talent Hannah Shayne.
Beyond music, Nick continues his mission of compassion through charity efforts with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), bringing not just entertainment but also comfort and hope to communities in need.
When it comes to musical influences, Nick credits Martin Nievera, Ariel Rivera, the late Rico J. Puno, and Ogie Alcasid for shaping his sound.
“I literally grew up hearing and singing their songs. Iyong vocal ranges nila kakaiba. Sila iyong idols ko,” he said.
But that admiration once came with comparisons.
“Pag nagpe-perform ako, you tend to sound like them… Dumating sa punto na iyon ang puna sa akin. When I saw the fans of Martin bashed me, iniba ko na ang istilo ko. I want to have my own identity as a musical artist.”
And it seems he’s found that voice. His shows in the U.S. have developed a strong following, and his performances are often sold out—a testament to his ability to connect with audiences, both through song and story.
Even with a steady career in healthcare and properties he has built abroad, Nick admits there’s no place like home.
“I think this is my home. Besides, sayang din naman iyong chances to do shows here.”
Looking ahead, Nick is already preparing to release his fifth studio album, a gospel collection titled Unafraid, and is also cooking up a high-energy dance album set to launch later this year.
