In the wake of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami), the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) they were revealed on Saturday that 81 were confirmed dead. Apart from this number, storm-ravaged parts of the Philippines have also claimed 66 injured individuals and 34 are still missing, said OCD Administrator and Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno.
During a news forum in Quezon City, Nepomuceno cited that the casualty reports remain to be validated. “These figures are subject to validation as we continue relief and rescue operations across affected areas,” he said.
As of Saturday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reports that 547 areas in some regions have already been flooded according to the given data. Regions I, II, III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, VI, VIII, IX, XIII, CARAGA, BARMM, and the National Capital Region are the areas affected by flooding.
Some four hundred seventy-two million people are affected by the storm, including around 1.062 million families. As of now, 82,000 families or 311,468 individuals are already staying in evacuation centers.
Damage Estimates of Critical Infrastructures from Initial NDRRMC Damage Assessments The estimated damages to infrastructure amount to more than P203 million in the following critical infrastructures: 98 roads, bridges, and school buildings.
Undersecretary Baldo and OCD continue coordinating relief activities with NDRRMC as they sustain their monitoring and response of the situation in the respective affected areas.
