The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority recorded 1,112 traffic violations on the first day of resumption of the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP), on Monday.
The Director of the MMDA Traffic Enforcement Group,Atty. Vic Nuñez confirmed the figure when interviewed by GMA Integrated News’ Unang Balita with regard tothe violation record for the traffic policy in question, which was way lower than the more than 3,000 violations logged on the same date last year.
“The entire day up to 12 midnight ang naitala namin is 1,112,” Nuñez said.
Among the most common infractions were the illegal use of the EDSA busway, failure to obey traffic signs, improper use of motorcycle lanes, and violations of designated loading and unloading zones.
Motorists who receive violation notices can pay their fines online or at the MMDA office.
The MMDA also cautioned the public against a fake link circulating, claiming to allow users to check for NCAP violations. MMDA also asked the public to be careful and use only official inquiries to avoid getting scammed.
NCAP came into effect again after the Supreme Court partially lifted the Temporary Restraining Order, which barred the implementation of NCAP by the MMDA.
