The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has cautioned the public against individuals falsely claiming to represent the office on the messaging platform Signal, warning of possible fraudulent activity involving its name.
In a statement released Wednesday, the OVP said it has received reports that certain users are allegedly impersonating the office without authorization.
“Binibigyang-babala natin ang publiko hinggil sa mga mapanlinlang na gawain ng mga indibidwal na nagpapanggap bilang ako sa isang messaging platform na Signal,” the statement read.
The office urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with suspicious messages, especially those claiming to be from Vice President Sara Duterte or any OVP representative.
It also reminded citizens not to respond, share personal details, or send money to unverified accounts.
“Kung makatanggap man ng kahina-hinalang mensahe… huwag makipag-ugnayan, magbigay ng personal na impormasyon, at lalong-lalo na huwag magpadala ng pera,” it added.
Vice President Sara Duterte likewise reiterated that she does not use messaging platforms to solicit any form of assistance from the public.
“Ako ay hinding-hindi humihingi ng anumang pabor, pinansyal man o hindi, sa publiko,” she said.
The OVP stressed its call for caution, warning the public against scammers who exploit crises and public trust for personal gain.
