Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao hinted at the possibility of a rematch between him and undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. after the American boxer announced that he will fight again in professional boxing.
“Watch out for the announcements,” Pacquiao said on the sidelines of the partnership signing between the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and SportsPlus yesterday in Mandaluyong.
“Good for us,” Pacquiao added when asked about his reaction to Mayweather’s return. “Watch out for it.”
Pacquiao himself will return to action on April 18 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas for an exhibition bout against former junior welterweight world champion Ruslan Provodnikov.
Mayweather is also set for an upcoming exhibition bout against Mike Tyson in April.
“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather said in a statement, less than a year after Pacquiao also ended his retirement and fought Mario Barrios Jr. to a draw in July.
On May 2, 2015, Mayweather defeated Pacquiao by unanimous decision in their only meeting, dubbed the “Fight of the Century.”
