ACT-CIS Partylist Representative Erwin Tulfo launched a program that provides financial assistance for media workers and their families for hospitalization.
With the limited benefits and health insurance available to newsmen in the country, Tulfo, a former media practitioner, launched the program to alleviate the situation of those in the profession.
“I have been in the media and I know that most of them are not prepared for a rainy day, with scant health insurance or benefits,” said Tulfo in a statement.
The program grants medical assistance to journalists and their respective immediate family members, covering spouses, children, parents, and siblings. It is approved in tranches of P25,000, P50,000 to P100,000, whichever covers the different phases of hospitalization, depending on the gravity of the sickness or illness.
The program encompasses all public and selected private hospitals in the country. The list of partner hospitals can be availed by media representatives at the National Press Club, Intramuros Manila. The list will likewise be published in the NPC Digest and its website.
To avail themselves of the aid, media practitioners must provide documents such as an endorsement from NPC, an abstract of the medical record of the patient and a letter where the patient is confined.
For inquiries, media workers may directly get in touch with the NPC or Rep. Tulfo’s office.
NPC President Leonel “Boying” Abasola said the leadership of the National Press Club “would like to thank Rep. Erwin Tulfo for his continued support of the media. His generous donations to various projects of the NPC prove his absolute confidence in us. Maraming salamat po.”
This is part of a larger advocacy of Tulfo to promote the welfare of journalists and their families nationwide.
