Crowned the Ultimate Dance Star Duo of 2025 alongside partner Dasuri Choi, Cruz took home the ₱1 million prize after a performance that fused grit with grace. His journey from rehearsal room mishaps to a flawless finale is a testament to resilience, artistry, and the quiet power of family.
A Week of War: Training That Hurt and Healed
Behind the polished performance was a punishing schedule. Cruz and Dasuri trained six hours a day for a week under Coach Macky Quiobe’s guidance. “Hard work talaga,” he said, describing how they cleaned every step from start to finish. The toll was visible—bruises, body aches, and exhaustion. “Bugbog din talaga sa ensayo,” he admitted, underscoring the physical cost of perfection.
During technical rehearsals, a lift nearly went wrong. Dasuri slipped mid-air, and Cruz had to summon every ounce of strength to prevent a fall. “Ang importante pa rin kasi yung safety naming dalawa,” he said. That moment became a metaphor for his approach: protect first, perform second.
Dancing for the Departed
Cruz’s motivation ran deeper than competition. He danced for his late parents, whose memory gave him strength. “Iniisip ko yung mama and papa ko in heaven,” he shared. Their presence, though unseen, was felt in every move.
With his wife Diane Medina, children, and siblings cheering him on, Cruz felt unstoppable. “Para nga akong nag-super Saiyan Rodjun eh,” he joked, channeling anime energy into real-world resilience. His goal wasn’t just to win—it was to make his family proud. “Paglaki nila, ‘Uy, daddy ko yan nag-champion,’” he imagined his kids saying.
Blindfolded Brilliance
One of the show’s most daring segments featured Cruz and Dasuri dancing blindfolded. No tricks, no visibility—just trust and timing. “Ito yung make it or break it namin,” he said. Rehearsals were shaky, with missed cues and nervous staff. But on performance night, everything clicked. “Pagdating nung show, na-perfect talaga,” Cruz recalled, crediting divine intervention and deep chemistry.
From Mentor to Myth
Cruz also reflected on his evolving role in the dance community. Once a mentor to his brother Rayver Cruz —whom he now calls “mas magaling sa akin”—Rodjun embraces the cycle of growth. He supports younger dancers, urging them to “enjoy niyo lang yung journey.” His own children, he promises, will learn to dance, sing, and perform under his guidance.
A Comeback Worth Celebrating
Before Stars on the Floor, Cruz hadn’t danced seriously in a year. TikTok clips were his only outlet. When manager Boss Vic pitched the show, Cruz hesitated. “Sa age ko, kaya ko pa bang makipagsabayan?” he wondered. But with encouragement from Diane and Rayver, he took the leap. “Makaka-inspire ka pa ng madaming tao,” they told him.
He did more than inspire—he triumphed. And in doing so, Rodjun Cruz reminded the nation that champions aren’t born in the spotlight. They’re forged in rehearsal rooms, lifted by love, and blindfolded by faith.
