Year in and year out, regardless of dispensations, the House of Representatives is star-studded and turning the august hall into fashion runway during State of the Nation Addresses (SONA).
Aside from showbiz-celebs-turned lawmakers and their guest movie and television stars, politicians themselves
This year alone, these so-called public servants were scene stealers not only in their presence but in garbs as well.
Vice President Sara Duterte was in her indigenous Muslim-inspired attire while the simplicity of wear of First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos was a complete turnaround of her recent display of some unbecoming gestures like sticking her tongue in dignified occasions as her hubby’s oath taking against her quietness and tame in the red carpet of Congress.

Another scene stealing view from the gallery was the attendance of actress Shiela Ysrael who was stunning in her terno. Shiela’s appearance in the SONA had debunked all mushy speculations that she and Laguna Province First District Representative actor Dan Fernandez have indeed called it quits.
The intriguing air, though, was her no photo-op with Dan who was generous in posing with his children like Laguna First District Board Member Danzel Fernandez and other Laguna pols like Len Alonte of Biñan City and Ambien Amante of the 3rd District of Laguna Province.
In his Facebook page, Fernandez and his staff have posted pictures of Shiela with her kids and other guests in the hall. Surprisingly, there are no special shots of the couple together.
Is this intentional or just the truth that they didn’t have photos together, selfied or taken by a fotog?
Meanwhile, there were also Lagunenses in the SONA whose presence was impressive like Santa Rosa resident Angelique Lazo who covered the proceedings for the government-owned TV Channel 4.
Angelique was indeed a media rarity for her striking talents as a newscaster. Lest we forget, she›s a singer and a member of the Ateneo Chamber Singers.
