Vice President Sara Duterte resigned as secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd), according to the Palace on Wednesday.
According to a Palace statement to reporters, Duterte did not clarify why she resigned.
The resignation will take effect on July 19, exactly one month after the June 19 announcement.
Duterte resigned as vice chair of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-Elcac).
Meanwhile, during the live announcement of VP Duterte, netizens commended her initiative projects that helped teachers. While there are netizens who praise her, there are some netizens who leave negative comments.
These comments came after the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results were published late Tuesday, wherein the Philippines ranked at the top 4 bottom among the 64 countries.
It was the first time the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) PISA programme assessed creative thinking.
According to the result, the Philippines had the second-lowest average score of 14 points, trailing only Albania’s 13 mean score. The OECD has an average score of 33.
Uzbekistan scored 14 points, while Morocco and the Dominican Republic each scored 15.
Meanwhile, students from Singapore, South Korea, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Estonia, and Finland scored the highest in the creative thinking evaluation. Aileen Lor
