Alas Filipinas is set to kick off the 2025 VTV International Cup with a highly anticipated rematch against the host country, Vietnam, tonight, in Vinh Phuc.
It will be the first meeting between the two since the final in the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Nations Cup, two weeks ago, where Vietnam won in straight sets: 25-15, 25-17, 25-14.
Head coach Jorge Edson Souza de Brito will reassemble a stronger squad to face the mighty Vietnamese after aggravating his wards in their last encounter, with Brooke Van Sickle, MarJana Phillips, and Tia Andaya added to the core of the team.
Other notable names donning the national colors include Dell Palomata, Maddie Madayag, Amie Provido, Eya Laure, Alleiah Malaluan, Leila Cruz, Jia de Guzman, Lams Lamina, Mars Alba, Dawn Catindig, and Justine Jazareno.
In the reserve pool are Thea Gagate, Vanessa Gandler, and Mereophe Sharma, while Mhicaela Belen, Angel Canino, Alyssa Solomon, and Shaina Nitura have been rested.
The powerful trident of Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Nguyen Thi Uyen, and Tran Thi Thanh Thuy- “T4” to the Filipino fans-will stand for Vietnam in the defense of their home court.
Following the match against Vietnam at 8 P.M., Alas Filipinas will take on the Sichuan Women of China on Monday and the Australian national women’s volleyball team on Tuesday.
