In a world that often demands instant success, veteran actor and comedian Epy Quizon has reminded us all that the pursuit of a dream has no expiration date. Proving that perseverance eventually outruns time, Quizon officially donned his cap and gown at De La Salle University (DLSU), completing a journey that began three decades ago.
“It was never too late,” Epy emphasized, standing as a testament to the belief that milestones are not reserved for the young, but for those who refuse to give up.

The actor’s path to graduation was anything but a straight line. Reflecting on his long hiatus, Epy shared a poignant message to his younger self, recalling how he walked the halls of DLSU back in 1996. At that time, he was a mere thesis away from his degree, but life intervened. He admitted that “fear and circumstance” diverted his path, as the immediate need for survival took precedence over the prestige of a graduation ceremony.
Now, thirty years later, that unfinished chapter has finally been closed. In a deeply personal tribute, Epy dedicated this achievement to his family. He shared that completing his degree was a way to honor the enduring memory of his late father, the legendary Dolphy, while offering his mother what he beautifully termed the “gift of completion.”
Beyond honoring his parents, Epy used his milestone to set a powerful example for the next generation of his family. He demonstrated to his siblings that a spirit of tenacity is woven into their DNA, while proving to his children that a vow, once made, remains a sacred commitment—no matter how many years it takes to fulfill.
Above all, the actor expressed profound gratitude to a higher power, whom he credits as the ultimate architect of his path. He described his thirty-year odyssey not as a delay, but as a masterpiece written by “the Author of this long and beautiful story.”–Cali Demi
