Senate President Francis Escudero stated that the Senate will seek a “full briefing” from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on the latest incident in Ayungin Shoal between Filipino forces and Chinese Coast Guard personnel, which injured seven Filipinos. The Japanese Embassy in the Philippines praised a Filipino for rescuing a 6-year-old boy from drowning at Fukuoka’s Hakozaki Wharf. According to the Japanese Asahi Shimbun news service, the Fukuoka Coast Guard received information that a 6-year-old boy fell two metres into the sea without a life jacket.
