The National Security Council (NSC) has refuted Senator Imee Marcos’ concerns regarding China’s alleged plan to use hypersonic missiles against military bases covered by the Philippines-US Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA).
NSC Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya stated that there is no immediate threat from China and they will reach out to Senator Imee for further clarification on her statement.
Malaya also mentioned progress in managing the situation in the West Philippine Sea and emphasized the amicable relations between the Philippines and China.
Senator Marcos had expressed worry about China’s purported use of hypersonic missiles against military bases covered by the EDCA.
Furthermore, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will be contacting the senator to gather more information.
