The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has raised the amount it gives out to patients with dengue as aid to bring relief to infected individuals and families.
A statement that was issued by the Department of Health (DOH) declared the benefit of dengue fever cases increased from ₱10,000 to ₱19,000, while it increased the benefit from severe dengue from ₱16,000 to ₱47,000.
PhilHealth urges that if an individual exhibits dengue symptoms, they should visit the doctor immediately because treatment has become cheaper thanks to the expanded coverage.
Additionally, the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) appealed to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to make the new dengue vaccine version publicly accessible. The PMA further highlighted that dengue is currently peaking into a public health crisis, with the Philippines recording the highest number of cases and deaths in Southeast Asia.
The health officials continue to urge early medical prompting coupled with vaccination to address the issue of mushrooming dengue cases in the country.
