Businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang has been officially charged with murder and serious illegal detention at the Department of Justice (DOJ) with the alleged disappearance of some sabungeros, or cockfight enthusiasts, in the past few years.
According to Ryan Bautista, the missing sabungero Michael Bautista’s brother, the list included the former NCRPO Chief, Police General Jonnel Estomo, and other police officers.
Assuring the public of a fair and impartial operation of the DOJ, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla reiterated that they will be fair to all parties and that they will not be one-sided.
The Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon said, however, that complaints would be taken up with utmost rigor by his office, while refusing to confirm who else was named in the complaint.
Meanwhile, Remulla stated that Elakim Patidongan, brother of missing Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, has emerged as a new witness for the DOJ. Allegedly, Elakim witnessed the killing of ten persons believed to be among the missing sabungeros.
Remulla also dismissed the alleged claims that Elakim Patidongan might be the mastermind behind the crime.
