For a vocalist known for her breathtaking power and expansive range, facing a threat to her very instrument is the ultimate test of resilience.
When the iconic Filipina singer, Frenchie Dy, suffered from a physical setback some time ago, she thought—and even feared—she could no longer go back to what she loves doing most: singing.
Recounting her ordeal in an intimate recent interview, Frenchie confessed that she suffered a severe attack of Bell’s Palsy, a condition characterized by poor coordination, stiff muscles, and problems with sensation, vision, and, crucially for a singer, speech.
This was not her first battle; she admitted having experienced similar symptoms when she was young, at nine years old. However, the third attack last February was profound. While the initial fear was intense, her recovery has been undeniable, and her recent looks confirm she has fully bounced back.

The Anchor of Friendship
During the challenging period of recovery, Frenchie realized the true meaning of friendship and community. She recalled that this was the time she discovered who truly her friends were. Without her asking for help, overwhelming support came from well-meaning friends who consistently and sincerely checked on her condition.
“Their concern towards me was overwhelming,” Frenchie shared, citing fellow OPM luminaries like Sarah Geronimo, Ice Seguerra, Erik Santos, and OJ Mariano, whose presence served as a vital anchor during those challenging months.
Now, Frenchie is not just returning; she is ready to regain the musical stage she had missed, setting the tone for one of the most anticipated comebacks of the year.
Two Decades of Soul Stirring Music
Frenchie is set to celebrate a significant milestone in her career with a 20th Anniversary Concert, marking two decades of soul-stirring performances and powerhouse vocals.
Titled “Here To Stay,” Frenchie Dy 20th Anniversary Concert, the show is more than just a celebration of music; it is a declaration of triumph over adversity.
“This concert is a thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey—my fans, my family who has been my anchor during those challenging months, and every person who believed in me,” Frenchie said. “Twenty years of music is something I celebrate not just for myself but with all of you.”
Since her breakout moment as the Star in a Million Grand Champion in 2005, Frenchie Dy has captivated audiences with her extraordinary range and emotive performances, rightfully earning the moniker “The Power Diva.”
A Concert with a Cause
The sense of community that supported Frenchie during her healing journey will be powerfully evident on stage. Surprisingly, those same supportive friends also volunteered to guest in her concert—especially when they learned that part of the proceeds would be donated to Bell’s Palsy patients.
Fans can expect a night of vocal brilliance and heartfelt tributes from a stellar lineup that includes the OPM belting queens Bituin Escalante, Radha, and Sheryn Regis, alongside her close friends Eric Santos and OJ Mariano. Also joining Frenchie are Ala Kim and the internationally acclaimed shadow play group, El Gamma Penumbra, guaranteeing a spectacular and emotional evening.
The much-anticipated concert will take place this October 24, Friday, at the Music Museum, bringing together fans, collaborators, and fellow artists for a night of music, memories, and magic.
After bravely overcoming her physical setback, Frenchie truly bounces back and is definitely HERE TO STAY—stronger than ever to keep sharing her gift of music with the world.
