The former chairperson of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), Liza Dino-Esguerra, has reported that her expensive watch and laptop were stolen from her checked-in luggage after arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Wednesday, March 28, 2025.
Dino-Esguerra, partner of singer Aiza “Ice” Seguerra, recounted that upon arrival at their residence, she did not immediately check her suitcase. Subsequently, upon opening the bag, she found that both items were missing.
According to Seguerra, they saw that the luggage had a slit in it, most probably made by a sharp object. Dino-Esguerra said she placed the valuables in checked-in luggage due to restrictions on the carry-on allowance.
The airport authorities stated that no solid proof was found regarding the incident; however, they assured compensation to Dino-Esguerra for her expensive watch but not for her missing laptop.
Dino-Esguerra urged the authorities to be more proactive in cases of theft at NAIA, stressing that measures must be strengthened to ensure it does not happen again.
