Pasig’s well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist, Sarah Discaya, filed her Certificate of Candidacy this afternoon, signaling an intention to challenge incumbent Mayor Vico Sotto in the 2025 mayoral race. Always referred to as “Ate Sarah” by the locals, Discaya filed her CoC after attending a special mass with the family and attending to supporters whom she credited to inspiring her to be into politics.
Discaya is well known in Pasig for her steady charity work and medical missions, especially those held in low-income and less privileged communities. This has attracted massive support from different sectoral groups of Pasig residents, most of whom encouraged her to run as an official candidate for years now.
As part of her campaign efforts, Discaya is proposing to turn Pasig into a “Smart City,” with a technology-based approach said to be the main thrust in her campaign platform. She aims to optimize various healthcare services with digital innovations, improve education quality through “Smart Schools,” and enhance public safety by using innovation and data to help local law enforcers.
She also intends to address traffic congestion in Pasig by pushing for the construction of multi-level parking structures.
The lawyers, the notable figures in the town, and community leaders all partake of Discaya’s team as she brings these promises to life.
