There remains no team that can beat defending champion Creamline in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The postseason-bound Cool Smashers clinched their ninth straight win over fellow semifinalist Chery Tiggo, 25-22, 24-26, 25-20, 25-16 on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Birthday girl Jema Galanza threw a party on the court with a triple-double of 16 points, 18 excellent digs, and 10 excellent receptions, while Tots Carlos also made his presence known with 16 markers.
The Crossovers got off to an 8-4 start in Set 4, but things got better for the Creamline after a timeout when they eventually took a 12-11 lead off an attack error by the red shirts.
Galanza unleashed a powerful hit to create a 22-15 separation, but Bernadeth Pons committed a service error to make it six.
However, that was the Crossovers’ last taste of a point as the Cool Smashers bounced back – one ace from Risa Sato and Pangs Panaga dealt the winning blow.
This win will serve as a confidence boost in the postseason, according to coach Sherwin Meneses.
“We are thankful, we got our ninth win, and the momentum going into the semis will be high, good,” he said in the postgame conference.
Meanwhile, Chery Tiggo enjoyed a six-game winning streak that ended at 8-2.
Eya Laure was held to nine points and 10 receptions, while Mylene Paat was the only Crossover in double digits with 11.
