The Senate panel said it would go to court and compel the arrested Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, to attend the investigation, according to Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros on Wednesday.
Quiboloy surrendered to police last Sunday, more than two weeks since some 2,000 PNP personnel tried to serve the arrest warrant at the KOJC compound.
He had gone into hiding after dodging hearings conducted by Hontiveros’s committee last January 23, February 19, and March 5, 2024.
For its part, the PNP said it is gathering more statements of alleged abuses blamed on Quiboloy. PNP Spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said that during the 16-day operation in the KOJC property in Davao City, some parents of the reported victims of abuse requested that Quiboloy be arrested.
Fajardo, however, refused to detail more of the new allegations.
