Manama: The Filipino community in the Kingdom of Bahrain recently marked a milestone of national pride as they successfully concluded the “Kalayaan Bayanihan Bahrain” event. Held from June 11 to 13, 2026, at the Oasis Mall in Juffair, the festivities commemorated the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, bringing together a diverse crowd to honor the history, unity, and resilience of the Filipino people.

The event, organized by BrandMe and supported by the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Manama and Oasis Mall Juffair, was a dynamic display of heritage, national spirit and culture. The three-day gathering provided a vibrant platform for the community to engage with their culture through music, food, and various interactive experiences that embodied the spirit of Bayanihan.

The celebration officially commenced on June 11 with the grand opening ceremonies at 4:00 p.m., which served to welcome the public and ignite a festive atmosphere filled with cultural pride that resonated throughout the venue. The event was graced by the Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain, H.E. Gines Jaime Ricardo D. Gallaga, accompanied by his spouse, Madame Moira Gallaga. They were joined by Ms. Cristina Fulgencio, Founder and CEO of BrandME, alongside various embassy officials, invited guests, and representatives from the Oasis Mall Juffair.

The significance of the commemoration reached its pinnacle on the second day, June 12, as the community was deeply honored to welcome the Guest of Honor, Honorable Hans Leo J. Cacdac, Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), whose address highlighted the strength and vital role of the Filipino workforce overseas.

This auspicious day was further distinguished by the presence of Ambassador Gines Jaime Ricardo D. Gallaga, Madame Moira Gallaga, Vice-Consul Charlie Florian Prenicolas, Labor Attaché Dr. Orville A. Ballitoc and Welfare Officer Juvilyn A. Gumabay, who joined the community to reflect on the historical importance of the day and celebrate the enduring contributions of Filipinos residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The final day of the event on June 13 saw the continuation of these cultural festivities, providing a concluding opportunity for families, friends, and visitors to participate in communal activities, share traditional cuisine, and solidify the bonds of unity that defined the entire celebration.

“Kalayaan Bayanihan Bahrain” successfully fostered a deep sense of belonging and national pride among all attendees. By bridging the gap between home and the diaspora, the event served as a powerful reminder of the enduring ties that bind Filipinos across the globe, ensuring that the legacy of their independence continues to flourish in the heart of Bahrain.
