Jhassy Busran: Embarking on a Dream Role Portraying Autism in ‘Unspoken Letters’

Award-winning young actress Jhassy Busran recently opened up about her overwhelming feelings upon landing her dream role in the film ‘Unspoken Letters’ produced by Utmost Creatives.

Busran expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to portray her dream character, someone with autism. She shared her excitement and nervousness about the role, emphasizing her dedication to studying and understanding the character deeply. Busran also conveyed her enthusiasm for collaborating with the immensely talented cast of the film, especially award-winning actress Gladys Reyes, who has a brother with autism.

Director Gat Alaman, one of the film’s directors, revealed that Busran stood out during the casting process due to her remarkable potential and promising talent. Recognizing her achievements as a teen actress and her capability to handle the weighty role in ‘Unspoken Letters,’ they were confident in her portrayal.

In the movie, Jhassy will also be joined by seasoned actors such as Tonton Gutierrez, Matet De Leon, Gladys Reyes, Glydel Mercado, Deborah Sun, Darla Ramirez, Orlando Sol, and Simon Ibarra. Additionally, John Heindrick Sitjar, MJ Manuel, and Christine Samson are also part of the cast. Directed by Gat Alaman, Andy Andico, and Paolo Bertola, ‘Unspoken Letters’ is eagerly anticipated and set to be released soon.

During the successful 13-day shoot in Bulacan, Jhassy shared her remarkable experience working alongside Gladys, Tonton, Glydel, Matet, and Simon. She expressed her deep admiration for their exceptional talent and genuine kindness, forming a close bond, particularly with Simon, whom she fondly refers to as her “tatay”.

Busran highlighted the invaluable lessons she learned from her co-stars, absorbing their professional attitudes and techniques to fully embody their characters. She also emphasized the guidance provided by Gladys in portraying a character with autism, drawing from Reyes’ personal experiences with her sibling. Gladys contributed insights into the proper care and portrayal of individuals with autism, even suggesting coordination with the Autism Society Philippines for further understanding.

Through her involvement in ‘Unspoken Letters,’ Jhassy gained a profound understanding of the unique challenges faced by children with autism. This experience deepened her empathy and knowledge, further emphasizing the importance of portraying their stories with accuracy and respect.

As the release of ‘Unspoken Letters’ approaches, anticipation continues to build for this powerful film that addresses significant themes and showcases the remarkable talents of its cast, particularly Jhassy’s outstanding portrayal.

Anyway, Jhassy also clarified that she and her love team partner, John Heindrick Sitjar (known as JhasDrick), are not parting ways. Acknowledging the importance of personal growth and development in the entertainment industry, Jhassy and John mutually decided to explore opportunities that would allow them to shine individually. Despite pursuing separate projects, JhasDrick maintain a strong bond and unwavering support for one another.

Jhassy is also celebrating a milestone in her acting career as she is one of the nominees for Best New Movie Actress of the Year at the PMPC Star Awards for Movies, for her portrayal in “Caught in the Act” with Joaquin Domagoso and Andi Abaya.
