MPower, the local retail electrivity supplier (RES) of Meralco, has raised its tie-up with Mr. Freeze Tube Ice Inc., which is into ice plants across Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, and Metro Manila, by transitioning its ice plants into the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP).
Under the RAP initiative, smaller end-users of electricity can combine several accounts within the same franchise area and purchase power on a bulk basis from retail electricity suppliers.
The arrangement enables Mr. Freeze to fully participate in the contestable market through the bulk purchase and competitive power rates offered by MPower to its facilities.
“Our business has always been built on strong relationships, and we’re happy to continue growing with Meralco and MPower. We look forward to sustainable growth and continued success as we power our Mr. Freeze ice plants, and we’re excited for this new journey with MPower by our side,” Philip Gerald Santos, President and Chief Operating Officer of Mr. Freeze stated.
For MPower, the partnership is an embodiment of its mission of empowering business while promoting proper energy utilization.
“This partnership is not only business-related but rather in joint objectives: sustainability, responsible energy use, and putting the customer first. MPower is not only a supplier but a partner, dedicated as we grow alongside our clients and in activities that matter the most, ” Redel M. Domingo, Meralco First Vice President and Head of MPower said.
Mr. Freeze has been a long-term partner of Meralco, electrifying its first ice plant in 2005. Since then, the company has continued expanding operations, strengthening its presence in Luzon with the support of Meralco and MPower.
