Manama: In a media briefing hosted alongside press correspondents, members of the Board of Commissioners, and the Secretary-General, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) formally released a publication titled “Documenting the Violations Resulting from the Heinous Iranian Aggression Against the Kingdom of Bahrain and Their Impact on the Enjoyment of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.”
Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, Chairman of the NIHR, explained that the compilation aligns directly with the organization’s statutory mandate to oversee human rights conditions and record infractions under domestic laws, the Paris Principles, and applicable international criteria.
According to Al Derazi, the release details the broader human rights and humanitarian repercussions of the strikes on Bahraini soil, emphasizing the toll taken on non-combatants, municipal infrastructure, and basic civil liberties. He noted that alongside tracking abuses, the document aims to safeguard historical records, uphold international legal frameworks, and champion public accountability.
The Chairman indicated that the 12-chapter publication encompasses the legal ground rules for tracking violations, state-level duties, the direct civic impacts of the strikes, firsthand account logs, site inspections, and actionable policy proposals.
Furthermore, Al Derazi praised the National Resilience Documentation Committee—formed via Royal Order—for its role in safeguarding evidence, tracking incidents, and bolstering the Kingdom’s official historical archives.
Detailing the primary suggestions, Dr. Malallah Al Hammadi, Vice Chairman of the NIHR, stressed the need for expanded mental health and social relief for vulnerable individuals, hardened security for essential physical and cyber infrastructure, and closer collaboration with UN bodies and global organizations to ensure proper reparations and justice.
Mohammed Juma Fazee, Board Member and Chair of the Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms, highlighted how the findings map both immediate and secondary effects of the hostile actions across the Kingdom. He emphasized the specific impacts observed among women, youth, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and key operational personnel. Fazee underscored that the investigation combined government records, external reporting, direct interviews, and physical inspections to maintain the highest standard of impartiality and accuracy.
