A Washington D.C., based consulting firm, Valent, is looking into potential seaport development along the Philippines’ eastern coast, highlighting the growing international focus on Aurora province’s strategic value.
Valent, has initiated discussions with the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport (APECO) about collaborating on a major seaport project in Casiguran, Aurora. This effort is part of APECO’s broader strategy to establish the area as a logistics and trade hub along Luzon’s eastern side.
The company’s President and CEO, Justin Valentine, recently met with APECO officials, including President and CEO Atty. Gil G. Taway IV. The meeting also included Department of National Defense Assistant Secretary Augusto V. Gaite, emphasizing the potential national security aspects of the proposed port project.
APECO is progressing with plans for a Pacific-facing port, which could act as an additional gateway for international trade while also improving logistics capabilities in times of disaster. This facility aims to enhance regional connectivity and stimulate economic activity in eastern Luzon.
Valent stated that its interest is consistent with its experience in guiding large-scale, complex developments worldwide. The firm focuses on strategic planning, project execution, risk management, and capital sourcing in multiple industries, including infrastructure and logistics.
While these discussions are still in early stages, they indicate increasing international attention on Aurora’s strategic position and APECO’s long-term goals, especially as the Philippines looks to diversify trade routes and enhance critical infrastructure along its Pacific coast.
