A mother can always recognize her child, no matter what.
This was exactly what happened to Alma Moreno when she was surprised by the special appearance of her son, Mark Anthony Fernandez, in Home Along da Riles: The Reunion Movie.
Mark is Alma’s son with the late Rudy Fernandez. Although he was never part of the original Home Along da Riles cast, his half-brother, Vandolph, was. Vandolph, the son of Alma and the late Comedy King Dolphy, portrayed Kevin in the hit ABS-CBN sitcom.
Recalling the surprise, Mark shared that his mother knows him so well that she could recognize him instantly—even by his hand.
Alma had no idea that Mark would make a cameo in the reunion film, which is inspired by the beloved 1992 ABS-CBN sitcom of the same title.
In the reunion movie, Vandolph not only reprises his role but also serves as one of the producers—a milestone that makes Alma especially proud.
According to Alma, she sees so much of Dolphy in Vandolph, describing him as a loving person with a natural gift for making people laugh.
Alma also admitted that she never expected the reunion movie to bring her to tears.
“I thought I was just going to laugh,” she said. “But I found myself crying because, beneath all the humor, the story is deeply touching.”
One of the film’s central themes is the importance of family.
As Alma put it, “Family is always there for you. They may fight from time to time, but in the end, they still help and stand by one another.”
