Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill (GARMCO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Alkafaa Limited Company, valued at USD 6 million for the supply of aluminium sheets during 2027 to serve the Saudi market. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the inaugural Made in GCC Forum and Exhibition, held from 6 to 8 October 2026 at Exhibition World Bahrain in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The MoU was signed by Fahad Albasam, Executive Manager – Management at GARMCO, and Abdullah Al Ariefy, Chairman at Alkafaa Limited Company, in the presence of officials from both organisations.
The MoU aims to supply aluminium sheets during 2027 to meet Alkafaa Limited Company’s requirements in the Saudi market. It provides a framework for strengthening commercial relations between the companies and supporting the reach of Bahraini aluminium products in Saudi Arabia through a GCC partnership.
The MoU’s significance is reinforced by opportunities in the Saudi market. Estimates published on Daleel, the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program’s platform, project Saudi aluminium demand rising from 482,000 tonnes in 2019 to approximately 1.129 million tonnes in 2030. These figures cover aluminium demand overall, rather than the market for coils or sheets alone. Daleel identifies construction, automotive, renewable energy and aerospace as sectors enabled by aluminium, illustrating the range of industrial opportunities associated with the sector’s growth.

The cooperation connects Bahraini manufacturing capabilities with Saudi market requirements, supporting GCC value chains and bilateral trade. This approach is consistent with the competitiveness and sustainability principles of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and Saudi Vision 2030’s focus on developing promising industries and diversifying the economy. The MoU’s significance therefore extends beyond direct supply to supporting GCC industrial and economic integration.
Fahad Albasam, Executive Manager – Management at GARMCO, said: “This MoU strengthens Bahrain’s position and presence in the large Saudi market and affirms the quality of Bahraini products and their ability to compete and meet industrial partners’ needs. It also reflects confidence in GARMCO’s products and supports industrial and economic integration among GCC states by expanding regional partnerships and value chains.”
Abdullah Al Ariefy, Chairman at Alkafaa Limited Company, said: “We are pleased to sign this MoU with GARMCO and reaffirm our confidence in the quality of Bahraini products and their ability to support our aluminium sheets requirements for 2027 in the Saudi market. We look forward to developing this cooperation to strengthen commercial relations between the two countries and contribute to GCC industrial and economic integration.”
