The professional training institute demonstrates its commitment to the Filipino community as its Nursing Assistant graduates volunteer their time and skills to ensure the safety of participants at the Philippine Nurses Association Bahrain Chapter’s 2nd Friendly Match.
Manama: GEMS Global Institute Bahrain proudly extended its support to the Philippine Nurses Association Bahrain Chapter (PNAB) during the organization’s 2nd Friendly Match Bowling Tournament held on June 5, 2026, at the Funland Centre – Bowling & Ice Skating in Manama. In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the institute’s own Nursing Assistant alumni volunteered their time and expertise to manage the event’s First Aid Station — ensuring the health and safety of every participant throughout the day.

The tournament, which drew a spirited turnout from the Filipino nursing community across Bahrain, was organized by PNAB officers led by President Cynthia C. Amar, RN, alongside Vice President Jinno D. Cunanan, RN, Secretary Janice C. Sinipete, RN, and Treasurer Aileen N. Sierra, RN. The event celebrated unity, friendship, and camaraderie among Filipino healthcare professionals in the kingdom.
GEMS Global Institute was among the event’s recognized supporting organizations, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from PNAB for its active participation in making the gathering a success.
“Our alumni did not just train — they showed up. Seeing our Nursing Assistant graduates step forward to serve their fellow Filipinos is the truest measure of what GEMS Global Institute stands for.”
Nursing Assistant Volunteers
What made GEMS Global Institute’s participation especially noteworthy was the hands-on involvement of its Nursing Assistant graduates. The following alumni volunteered to staff the First Aid Station under the supervision of GEMS trainers Arvin Caya and Shera Arollado:
| Name | Role |
| Fe Basario | First Aid Station Volunteer |
| Jonalyn Lobaton | First Aid Station Volunteer |
| Mary Jane Francisco | First Aid Station Volunteer |
| Nicole Avehuro | First Aid Station Volunteer |
| Peter Ochieng Ouma | First Aid Station Volunteer |
| Arvin Caya & Shera Arollado | Supervising Trainers, GEMS Global Inst. |
Under the capable supervision of GEMS trainers Arvin Caya and Shera Arollado, the team of five graduates was well-prepared and professional throughout the event. Armed with the skills and confidence developed through their Nursing Assistant training at GEMS, the volunteers were on standby to respond to any medical need, providing first responder care and health monitoring from start to finish.

Gem Reyes, Founder, President, and CEO of GEMS Global Institute, expressed immense pride in the volunteer effort. The institute offers an 11-course curriculum covering Nursing Assistant, Caregiving, Financial Accounting, Business & Entrepreneurship, Barista, Baking, Culinary Arts, Beauty Care, English Proficiency, Customer Service, and MS Office — and has long been committed to equipping Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Bahrain with skills that extend beyond the classroom.

The collaboration between GEMS Global Institute and PNAB reflects the deep ties between two organizations that share a common purpose: uplifting the Filipino community in Bahrain. PNAB has been a pillar of the Filipino healthcare sector in the kingdom since its establishment in 2013, while GEMS Global Institute continues to grow as a hub for professional skills development and OFW empowerment since opening its doors in 2024.
As the bowling lanes of Funland Centre echoed with cheers and camaraderie on that June afternoon, the presence of GEMS-trained nurses — Fe Basario, Jonalyn Lobaton, Mary Jane Francisco, Nicole Avehuro, and Peter Ochieng Ouma — quietly and professionally ensured that every participant could celebrate the day with peace of mind. For GEMS Global Institute, it was more than a certificate on the wall. It was a testament to the institute’s belief that education is not complete until it serves the community.
