A magnitude 4.9 earthquake shook Maydolong , Eastern Samar early Monday morning, August 10, based on the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs)
The earthquake happened at 1:05 a.m. , with a depth of 34 kilometers. The epicenter was two kilometers southwest of Maydolong.
Residents in several places in Eastern Samar, Samar, Northern Samar, and Leyte, has also felt the tremor.
Borongan City in Eastern Samar logged Intensity IV, which was the strongest shaking figure mentioned so far from the event.
Instrumental Intensity III was noted in Sulat, Eastern Samar. Intensity II was also recorded in Basey and Villareal in Samar; Can-avid in Eastern Samar; Palapag and San Roque in Northern Samar; and Dulag, Alangalang, Abuyog, and Palo in Leyte.
Meanwhile, Intensity I was detected in Rosario and Mapanas in Northern Samar; Gandara and San Jorge in Samar; and Mahaplag and Hilongos in Leyte.
Phivolcs says it continues observing the seismic situation in the locality and said no damagea or injuries recorded due to the earthquake.
