Following the powerful Magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani on June 8, 2026, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) continues to record aftershocks from the event.

According to the latest report released today, approximately 6,652 aftershocks have been recorded. Of these, 1,575 have been plotted, while 80 were felt by the public.
The aftershocks registered magnitudes ranging from 1.2 to 6.4 and continue to be monitored by PHIVOLCS.

Authorities have advised residents across Mindanao to remain vigilant and strictly follow safety protocols as aftershocks may continue to occur.
The earthquake is considered one of the strongest recorded in the country this year, and experts expect aftershock activity to persist in the coming months.
