The Ahon Mahirap party list officially launched its campaign with a visit to Barangay 49 in Dagupan, Tondo. According to Wilbert Tolentino, the first nominee of the party list, they chose Barangay 49 as their first stop because they are number 49 on the ballot.

Tolentino was joined by former Sexbomb dancer Sugar Mercado and Herlene “Hipon” Budol during their visit, despite Budol’s limp from a recent foot injury.
Tolentino, undeterred by the narrow streets, went door-to-door engaging with the community. Residents of Barangay 49 expressed their joy and appreciation for the visit.
At the core of Ahon Mahirap’s plan is the idea that true progress begins with knowledge. One of their key focuses is financial literacy—teaching Filipinos how to manage their money, save, and invest wisely.

Through accessible seminars and workshops, the party list helps families get on track with their finances. They’re even pushing for financial literacy to be included in school curriculums so future generations will be better prepared to handle their money and make smart financial choices.
During the visit, Tolentino emphasized his deep connection with the struggles of the underprivileged, sharing that his success today was built on overcoming poverty.
This personal experience drives his commitment to helping those in need. “Malambot ang puso ko sa mga kapuspalad. Dahil naranasan ko ang kahirapan. Galing din naman kami sa hirap. Pero nagsumikap ako,” Tolentino shared.
“Ang Ahon Mahirap, hindi lang ayuda ang iniaalok namin sa ating mga kababayaan. Tuturuan natin sila kung papaano ang magkaroon ng sariling mga kabuhayan. We will share everything we’ve learned, especially in business,” he added.
