Manama: The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) has conducted a practical training workshop on disaster response and safe evacuation at its headquarters in the Diplomatic Area, as part of its wider efforts to strengthen the readiness of volunteers working on the front lines of humanitarian response.
The workshop brought together several volunteers and individuals interested in humanitarian work, and was designed to build the skills needed to respond safely and effectively in emergency situations.

Led by the Society’s Disaster Management Team, with the participation of certified trainers in first aid and emergency response, the programme combined technical guidance with practical exercises that reflected real life scenarios.
A key part of the workshop focused on field assessment as the basis for rapid and informed decision-making during emergencies. Delivered by Mrs. Fathiya Al Tublani, Head of the Disaster Management Team at the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, the session examined how first responders assess a situation, gather and analyze essential information, identify immediate priorities and activate the necessary response channels.

The programme also addressed fire safety and evacuation procedures through a session led by Mr. Mohammed Ashoor, First Aid Trainer at the Society. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of fire behavior and suppression, the appropriate use of different types of fire extinguishers, and the steps required to manage fire related incidents safely. The session was followed by a practical evacuation simulation, giving participants the opportunity to apply safe exit procedures and practice using fire extinguishers under supervision.

First aid in emergency situations was another core component of the workshop. Mr. Hameed Nasser, a certified trainer with the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, guided participants through essential response measures, including dealing with shock, controlling bleeding, responding to foreign objects, supporting fractures, and providing immediate care for burns.

The Bahrain Red Crescent Society said the workshop reflects its continued efforts to build a well-prepared volunteer base capable of supporting communities in times of crisis. It affirmed that practical, scenario based training helps improve the speed and accuracy of response, strengthens coordination among field teams, and contributes to more organized emergency action aimed at protecting lives and reducing risks.
