Miss Universe 2018 reflected on the observance of the 128th Independence Day.
In a Facebook post, Catriona admitted that she, too, sometimes gets tired of standing up and fighting for the country.
“Sometimes it is exhausting, and it can be disappointing,” she said.
Still, she is not giving up hope: “We still choose to love the Philippines!”
Despite what is happening in the country, the former beauty queen remains confident that change will come.
Catriona hopes that June 12 will not be the only day Filipinos celebrate freedom.
“I hope every Filipino feels freedom from hunger, fear, and injustice.
“Hope lives on!”
Netizens agreed with Catriona, saying people should simply keep doing what is right: “Let us protect our freedom!”
“Ms. Catriona, I have nothing but respect for you. Thank you for being a burning torch for our countrymen!”
One netizen also reminded everyone about the 2028 elections — saying that this could be the chance to change the country and free it from corruption.
