Manama: #BreakingTheStigma: Let’s Speak About the Unspoken, a mental health awareness programme, was successfully held at the KIMSHEALTH Auditorium in Umm Al Hassam to address the critical issue of mental health stigma.
This pivotal event was organized by The 973Lounge and Go Alive Media House WLL in collaboration with Enarat Alrooh and the Middle East Psychological Association (MEPA) – Bahrain Country Chapter with the support of KIMSHEALTH Hospital.

The programme featured a distinguished panel of experts, including Dr. Anisha Abraham, Clinical Psychologist; Donna Alshaikh, Mental Health Specialist; and Dr. Amal Abraham, Specialist-Psychiatry.
The discussion was moderated by veteran journalist Raji Unnikrishnan. These professionals shared their insights, experiences, and strategies to combat the stigma surrounding mental health, covering a range of topics such as mental health awareness, the importance of early intervention, and practical steps to foster a supportive community for those affected by mental health issues.

Highlights of the event included interactive discussions, where attendees engaged with mental health professionals to learn about the challenges and breakthroughs in the field. A Q&A session provided participants with the opportunity to ask questions and gain deeper insights into mental health care. The event also facilitated community building, allowing attendees to network with like-minded individuals and organizations dedicated to promoting mental wellness.

This programme was an excellent opportunity for individuals, families, healthcare professionals, and community leaders to come together, share knowledge, and promote a culture of openness and support. Mental health is a crucial aspect of overall well-being, yet it often remains a taboo subject. Events like this play a vital role in breaking down these barriers.
