The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday, said they will comply with President Bong Bong Marcos’ order to shift back to the old school calendar from June to March.
Undersecretary and Spokesperson Michael Poa confirmed that they submitted a proposal to the Office of the President (OP) about the S.Y.
In a letter submitted to the OP, Poa stated that they will abide by the President’s order, stating also that the SY 2024-2025 will end on March 31, 2025.
Due to the adjustment, the next SY will consist of 165 school days.
Since April, many schools have suspended face-to-face classes and shifted to Alternative Delivery Modules (ADMs). According to the DepEd’s data, 7,372 out of 47,678 schools have shifted to ADMs.
On Monday, PBBM said he had already asked DepEd Secretary and VP Sara Duterte to provide concrete on shifting to the old school calendar.
