The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is currently negotiating with the Philippine Consulate in Guangzhou, China, to urgently assist three Filipino nationals arrested and detained in China.
DFA spokesperson Teresita Daza reported that the consulate will be providing legal assistance to the three persons, who were allegedly arrested for espionage.
Communication continues between the DFA and Chinese authorities to ascertain the conditions and reasons for the arrest, Daza said.
She assured the public that the Philippine government would not abandon its citizens and would exhaust all means available to assist the detained Filipinos.
